Mission

Created in 2022, Comité Marcelle Cahn is a cultural and scientific association which brings together curators, art historians, gallerists, academics and amateurs around this concurrently modern and contemporary artist. The Comité brings together various key actors involved in the dissemination of Marcelle Cahn’s work, having worked towards its recognition – past and in the future.  Serge Lemoine, president of the Comité Marcelle Cahn, worked on the Dijon iteration of the first significant retrospective organized during the artist’s lifetime in 1972 to 1973, under the auspices of the Centre national d’art contemporain (CNAC). Cécile Godefroy, a member of the scientific committee of the Comité Marcelle Cahn, curated the major retrospective Marcelle Cahn. En quête d’espace, held in 2022 and 2023 at the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain de Strasbourg, the Musée d’Art modern et contemporain de Saint-Étienne Métropole and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes. Uniting several generations of connoisseurs of Marcelle Cahn’s work, the Comité Marcelle Cahn has the following missions:

– Centralise, complete and distribute the digital catalogue raisonné.

– Appraise and authenticate presumed works by Marcelle Cahn not yet included in the catalogue raisonné.

– Bring together, renew and animate a network of researchers interested in the work of Marcelle Cahn.

– Share bibliographic, iconographic and audiovisual documentary resources via its website.
